Primary Scripture: Isaiah 53

Verse 1

Despised and rejected; Acquainted with grief; In sorrow He suffered To bring man relief; His pathway was sorrow, His pillow was thorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns.

Verse 2

O love all surpassing, Amazing to see; To bear uncomplaining Theses sorrows for me; His pathway was sorrow, His pillow was thorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns.

Verse 3

Like sheep we have wandered; Each turned to his way; The Lord on the Shepherd The burdens must lay; His pathway was sorrow, His pillow was thorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns.

Verse 4

O sad Man of Sorrow, So little esteemed; In anguish more trying Than mortal has dreamed; His pathway was sorrow, His pillow was thorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns, And these make the crown that His forehead adorns.
