The Golden City

Verse 1

Say, have you read in the story olden, Of the city fair that waits? Jasper the walls, and the streets are golden, And of purest pearl the gates.

There we shall dwell with the Lord forever, Going out no more. There shall we go, when we cross the river; Over on the other shore.

Say, have you heard of the river flowing? Clear as crystal is its tide. Forth from the throne are its waters going; Shall we roam that stream beside?

Say, have you read, in that wondrous story, How no moon nor sun need they? For it is lightened with God's own glory; Shall we see that endless day?
