We Are Able to Go Up and Possess the Land

Verse 1

We are on our way to Canaan, and we'll reach it by and by, Tho' to keep us from that country all our enemies may try; But no matter who oppose, We will conquer all our foes; We are able to go up and possess the land.

Verse 2

This is called the land of promise, for 'twas promised by the Lord That some day the weary exiles to their homes should be restored; So believing in his Word, And relying on his sword, We are able to go up and possess the land.

In that blessed, blessed country there's a home for ev'ry one Who will follow our Commander till the setting of the sun, And where Jesus goes ahead We will never fear to tread; We are able to go up and possess the land.

Verse 4

We will have to cross the river when we reach the borderland, But we will not fear the current tho' our feet within it stand; For the waters will give way, And we'll find, at close of day, We are able to go up and possess the land.
