Why Should I Wait?

Verse 1

Why should I wait? I cannot flee, To other refuge than to thee; And vile and helpless though I be, Jesus, I come to thee.

Verse 2

Why should I wait? I look within, And nothing there I see but sin; And Thou alone canst make me clean, Jesus, I come to thee.

Verse 3

Why should I wait? I must not wait, Tomorrow's sun may be to late; And death may seal my hapless state, Jesus, I come to thee.

Verse 4

Why should I wait? O Lord, I plead, Thy mercy in this time of need; And as my hiding place indeed, Jesus, I come to thee.
