And I took unto me faithful witnessesâThe precise object in calling in these witnesses is not known. Some have supposed that it was to bear âŚ

And I took unto me faithful witnesses. âSo that the prophetâs challenge to his opponents might be made more emphatic, theâŚ

And I took into me witnesses. The noun ע××× (gnedim), and the verb ×ע×× (agnid), which the Prophet employs, are derived âŚ

And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record
Not his marriage, nor the birth of his son, nor the name he gave himâŚ

The prophet is to write on a large roll, or on a metal tablet, words which meant Make speed to spoil, hasten to the prey: pointing out thaâŚ
