The Order of Confirmation Or Laying on of Hands upon Those That Are Baptized and Come to Years of Discretion

Almighty and everliving God, who makes us both to will and to do those things that are good and acceptable to your divine Majesty;¹

We make our humble supplications to you for these your servants,²

upon whom (after the example of your holy Apostles) we have now laid our hands, to certify them (by this sign) of your favour and gracious goodness towards them. Let your fatherly hand, we beseech you, ever be over them,³

let your Holy Spirit ever be with them;⁴

and so lead them in the knowledge and obedience of your Word, that in the end they may obtain everlasting life; through our Lord Jesus Christ, who with you and the Holy Ghost lives and reigns, ever one God, world without end. Amen.⁵
