2 chron 20:9

O God, merciful Father, that despises not the sighing of a contrite heart,1

nor the desire of such as are sorrowful;2

Mercifully assist our prayers which we make before you in all our troubles and adversities, whenever they oppress us; and graciously hear us,3

that those evils which the craft and subtlety of the devil or man works against us be brought to nought;4

and by the providence of your goodness they may be dispersed;5

that we your servants, being hurt by no persecutions, may evermore give thanks to you in your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord.6
