The Litany and Suffrages

O God, merciful Father, who does not despise the sighing of a contrite heart,¹

nor the desire of such as are sorrowful;²

Mercifully assist our prayers which we make before you in all our troubles and adversities, whenever they oppress us; and graciously hear us,³

that those evils which the craft and subtlety of the devil or man works against us may be brought to nothing;⁴

and by the providence of your goodness they may be dispersed;⁵

that we your servants, being hurt by no persecutions, may evermore give thanks to you in your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord.⁶
