The Form and Manner of Ordering of Priests

Come Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,¹

And lighten with celestial fire.

You are the anointing Spirit,²

Who does your sevenfold gifts impart.

Your blessed unction from above,³

Is comfort, life, and fire of love.

Enable with perpetual light⁴

The dullness of our blinded sight.

Anoint and cheer our soiled face⁵

With the abundance of your grace.

Keep far our foes, give peace at home;⁶

Where you are guide, no ill can come.

Teach us to know the Father, Son,⁷

And you, of both, to be but One.

That, through the ages all along,⁸

This may be our endless song: Praise to your eternal merit,

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
