In the time of any common Plague or Sickness

O Almighty God, who in your wrath did send a plague upon your own people in the wilderness, for their obstinate rebellion against Moses and Aaron;¹

and also, in the time of king David, did slay with the plague of Pestilence threescore and ten thousand, and yet remembering your mercy did save the rest;²

Have pity upon us miserable sinners, who now are visited with great sickness and mortality;³

that like as you did then accept of an atonement, and did command the destroying Angel to cease from punishing,⁴

so it may now please you to withdraw from us this plague and grievous sickness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.⁵
