In Time of Dearth and Famine

O God, heavenly Father, whose gift it is that the rain does fall, the earth is fruitful, beasts do increase, and fishes do multiply;¹

Behold, we beseech you, the afflictions of your people;²

and grant that the scarcity and dearth, which we do now most justly suffer for our iniquity, may, through your goodness be mercifully turned into cheapness and plenty;³

for the love of Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, now and for ever. Amen.⁴
