The Order for the Visitation of the Sick

Hear us, Almighty and most merciful God and Saviour;¹

extend your accustomed goodness to this your servant who is grieved with sickness.²

Sanctify, we beseech you, this your fatherly correction to him;³

that the sense of his weakness may add strength to his faith, and seriousness to his repentance:⁴ That, if it shall be your good pleasure to restore him to his former health, he may lead the residue of his life in your fear, and to your glory:⁵

or else, give him grace so to take your visitation, that, after this painful life ended, he may dwell with you in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.⁶
