The Ark as a Symbol of Christ

Commentator Matthew Henry explains that the ark was a physical symbol, or "type," of Jesus Christ, representing God's presence. Just as the ark was brought into the temple, Christ's presence is brought into our gatherings through faith and prayer. When Christ is formed in a soul, that person becomes a temple of the Holy Spirit, and the true "ark" is settled in their heart, bringing genuine satisfaction.
