Commentators overwhelmingly agree that Paul quotes Psalm 2:7 to explain the resurrection. This doesn't mean Jesus became the Son at his resurrection. Rather, the resurrection was the powerful, public declaration and vindication of His eternal Sonship. As one scholar puts it, this was the day God 'truly brought Him to light,' proving He was the promised King.
