You shall eat nothing leavened. In all your habitations you shall eat unleavened bread.`"

Leaven as a Symbol of Sin

Matthew Henry explains that the Feast of Unleavened Bread is a powerful picture of the Christian life. Just as the Israelites were commanded to remove all leaven from their homes, believers are called to purge the 'leaven of malice and hypocrisy' from their hearts. This act of purification allows us to continually feast on Christ, our Passover Lamb, in sincerity and truth, as taught in 1 Corinthians 5:7–8.
