Commentator Matthew Henry explains that the tabernacle was a physical testimony of God's desire to dwell with humanity. This finds its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ (Emmanuel, 'God with us'), who is the Word that 'became flesh and tabernacled among us' (John 1:14). The physical tent, made one by golden clasps, points to the person of Christ, the true meeting place between God and man.
