A Judgment That Fits the Sin
Commentators explain that God's judgment is not arbitrary. When the verse says, "I also will choose their delusions," it means God's punishment will ironically mirror their sin. Because they chose their own ways over God's commands, God allows them to experience the full, calamitous consequences of those choices, whether through self-deception, false leaders, or historical disaster. Their punishment is a direct reflection of their rebellion.
