Isaiah 8:11-22

¹¹For Yahweh spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, ¹²Don`t you say, "A conspiracy!" concerning all whereof this people shall say, "A conspiracy!" neither fear you their fear, nor be in dread [of it]. ¹³Yahweh of hosts, him shall you sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. ¹⁴He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ¹⁵Many shall stumble thereon, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

¹⁶Bind you up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. ¹⁷I will wait for Yahweh, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. ¹⁸Behold, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Yahweh of Hosts, who dwells in Mount Zion.

¹⁹When they shall tell you, "Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter:" shouldn`t a people consult with their God? on behalf of the living [should they consult] with the dead? <sup>20</sup>To the law and to the testimony! if they don`t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. ²¹They shall pass through it, sore distressed and hungry; and it shall happen that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse by their king and by their God, and turn their faces upward: ²²and they shall look to the earth, and see, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and into thick darkness [they shall be] driven away.
