All the commentators agree that this prophecy points directly to the Messiah, Jesus Christ. They argue that no earthly king, such as Hezekiah, could possibly fit the description. The titles used, particularly 'Mighty God,' and the promise of an eternal government, could only apply to a divine being, not a mere man.
