Most commentators agree this verse prophesies the New Covenant in Christ. The Ark, the central symbol of God's presence in the Old Testament, would become obsolete. It would be replaced not by a void, but by a greater reality: the presence of God dwelling in the hearts of His people through the Holy Spirit.
