Why "Son of Man"?

Commentators explain that Jesus deliberately used the title "Son of Man" instead of "Messiah." While "Messiah" carried popular expectations of a political king, "Son of Man" was a title Jesus could redefine. He connected it to the glorious figure from Daniel 7 but uniquely infused it with the new, unexpected concepts of suffering, rejection, and death, revealing the true nature of his mission.
