A Masterful Rebuttal

Commentators note that Jesus masterfully refuted the Sadducees on their own terms. Knowing they primarily revered the first five books of the Old Testament (the Pentateuch), He quoted Exodus 3:6. By stating, "I am the God of Abraham..." long after the patriarchs had died, God revealed they were still alive in a conscious state. This proved life after death from the very scriptures the Sadducees claimed to uphold.
