The True Passover Lamb
Jesus intentionally connects his impending crucifixion with the Passover feast. Commentators explain that this was not a coincidence. Just as the Passover lamb was sacrificed to deliver Israel from bondage in Egypt, Jesus, the true Paschal Lamb, was about to be sacrificed to deliver all people from the bondage of sin. His death gives the ancient festival its ultimate meaning.
