The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.

Verse Takeaways

1

Who Was King Lemuel?

While some scholars suggest Lemuel was a foreign king, the traditional and majority view is that "Lemuel" (meaning "dedicated to God") is another name for King Solomon. Commentators like John Gill propose it could be a fond name given to him by his mother, Bathsheba. This oracle, then, is the wise counsel she gave her son.
