"I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my lovingkindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee;" — 1 Chronicles 17:13 (ASV)

My son - The warning clause that occurs after this in Samuel is omitted here because the writer is not about to record the sins of Solomon or the sufferings (1 Kings 11:9–40) that he brought upon himself as a result.
