Albert Barnes Commentary Mark 15:23

"And they offered him wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not." — Mark 15:23 (ASV)

Wine mingled, etc. Matthew says, vinegar. It was probably wine soured, so that it might be called either. This was the common drink of the Roman soldiers.
