Albert Barnes Commentary Numbers 26:64

"But among these there was not a man of them that were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai." — Numbers 26:64 (ASV)

It appears from (Deuteronomy 2:14–15) that the generation numbered at the former census had perished before the host crossed the brook Zered.
