"Now there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they entreated him that he would give them leave to enter into them. And he gave them leave." — Luke 8:32 (ASV)
A herd of many swine (αγελη χοιρων ικανων). Word
herd (αγελη) old as Homer, but in N.T. only here and parallels (Matthew 8:30). Luke shows his fondness for adjective ικανος here again (see verse 27) where Mark has μεγαλη and Matthew πολλων.
