"And they that saw it told them how he that was possessed with demons was made whole." — Luke 8:36 (ASV)

He that was possessed with devils (demons) (only two words in Greek, ο δαιμονισθεις, the demonized).

Was made whole (εσωθη). First aorist passive indicative of σωζω to save from σως (safe and sound). This is additional information to the news carried to them in verse 34.
