SCRIPTURE

"Behold, I am toward God even as thou art: I also am formed out of the clay. Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, Neither shall my pressure be heavy upon thee." — Job 33:6-7 (ASV)

Behold, I am according to your wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay. Behold, my terror shall not make you afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon you.

Job had wished that he could argue his case with the Lord himself. If God would only withdraw the terror of his presence from him, he would like to come even to his seat, and plead with him.

"Oh!" said he, "that there were one who would stand between me and God, that I might plead with him!" "Here am I," answered Elihu, "I am the man you want. God has sent me, now come, and plead with me. There is no terror in me to make you afraid; neither have I any heavy hand to crush you."
