"They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and see that out of Galilee ariseth no prophet." — John 7:52 (ASV)

They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee?

Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

Which was a lie, for prophets had come out of Galilee. Still, they denied it; and they were indignant at having such a question put to them by Nicodemus.
