Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man that sowed good seed in his field:" — Matthew 13:24 (ASV)
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
He knew that it was good. It had been tested: it was unmixed: it was good throughout.
Furthermore, so that He might often give us the keynote of this Gospel, our Lord speaks of “the kingdom of heaven,” and, to continue His method of making truth so clear that only the willfully blind should fail to see it, He brings forth another plain and profound parable.
We know very well that man which sowed good seed in his field. Very well He sowed it. He sowed it in His own chosen ground, his field, and very good was the seed He sowed. He has entered His heavenly house and has left His field to the care of His servants. Alas, that care is by no means what it should be!
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
Jesus never sowed any other kind of seed. The truth which he taught is pure and unadulterated. It is good seed, – good and only good, the very best of seed.
