The Sunday called Septuagesima,

O Lord, we beseech you favourably to hear the prayers of your people;¹

that we, who are justly punished for our offences,²

may be mercifully delivered by your goodness,³

for the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.⁴
