The Order for Evening Prayer, Daily Throughout the Year

Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,¹

who desires not the death of a sinner, but rather that he may turn from his wickedness, and live;²

and has given power, and commandment, to his Ministers, to declare and pronounce to his people, being penitent, the Absolution and Remission of their sins:³ He pardons and absolves all those who truly repent, and unfeignedly believe his holy Gospel.⁴

Wherefore let us beseech him to grant us true repentance,⁵

and his Holy Spirit,⁶

that those things may please him, which we do at this present;⁷

and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure, and holy;⁸

so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy;⁹

through Jesus Christ our Lord.¹⁰
