The Second Collect at Evening Prayer

O God, from whom all holy desires,¹

all good counsels,²

and all just works do proceed;³

Give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give;⁴

that both our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,⁵

and also that by you, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,⁶

may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.⁷
